7 Self-Care Morning Habits to Add To Your Routine

Morning routines are one of the most essential things to perfect in anyone's daily life.

Whether you are a teacher, parent, or business person, becoming great at conquering the morning sets the mood for the rest of the day and directly correlates to the clarity, productivity, and happiness of your life.

Some people start their day within 5 minutes, and some people have a methodical 2 hour morning routine before they can interact with the outside world.

Whatever routine you end up building, we've listed 7 essential items you can consider adding to yours, based on our experience.

1. Plant Care

I mean, we're a plant company so this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Here at declutterd, we believe that Plant Care is Self Care. The action of caring for something living without expecting anything from it is one of the most rewarding experiences anyone can have.

You may look at this as a lower maintenance version of owning a pet or having a child, because A) they don't talk back and B) you don't have to walk them. Just feed them, make sure they get enough sunlight, and you should largely be good to go :) They'll thank you by giving you fresh oxygen, becoming lush and beautiful, and purify the air.

2. Meditation

Meditation is a direct action (by actively doing nothing) to increase the amount of clarity you mind has, decompress your stress levels, and give you perspective on the day-to-day. In my experience, I tend to give myself a 5-10 meditation period when I feel I've lost control of the day.

This is a great way to combat social media addiction by lowering the amount of stimulation you have. It's also a great way to slow down life when you feel that life is moving a bit too fast for your liking.

It can be hard in the beginning to get into it, but I assure you that meditation is something no one regrets doing.

3. Yoga

Yoga is a series of stretches that you do while focusing on you breathing. This is one of the most beloved practice across the world that that improve your posture, mental clarity, physical fitness, and flexibility.

A simple yoga practice in the morning can be as little as 10 minutes or as much as 30 minutes. You can do it for an hour too if you want, but you'd have to wake up super early.

The degree of difficulty depends on you. It can be intense and difficult or relaxing and meditative.

Either way, give it a try one morning and immediately feel the benefits afterwards.

4. Cardio Exercise

Whether you want to lose weight, get fit, or just be healthier, doing some cardio can surely do the trick!

The goal is to simply perform exercises to increase your heart rate zone, where you can start burning calories and fats. Implementing this with as little as 5-10 minutes a day would dramatically control your weight and calorie intake by managing your hunger throughout the day.

5. Stretch

I think most people already do this, but being more intentional about stretching can do wonders for the body. Releasing pressure points and softening the muscles (thus strengthening) has countless benefits.

It is one of the surest way to prevent future injuries as well. Don't overdo it though! Stretching is one of the things where it gets better overtime as your body adapts, so being too ambitious can be a bad thing since you might tear your muscles and risk an injury.

6. Declutter

Ah, the inspiration for our name.

We get such satisfaction and mental clarity when we declutter our physical workspace. What's messy and overfilled in our workspace or living space directly translate the same effect onto our minds.

Taking a minute or two to just put things back to where they were or clean up the remains of last night's event will help you start your morning off in the right track. Trust us.

7. Take a Walk

Depending on where you live, this option might be more or less attractive. But we've found that taking morning walks before the world wakes up is one of the best ways to slowly start your day.

Listening to lower frequency music or walking your dog while wearing an oversized sweater is honestly an underrated experience in life.
